Parental responsibility is not for the benefit of the parents but for that of the child
Child Arrangement Orders
The law relating to Child arrangements orders was introduced in 2014 and deals with the arrangements as to with whom a child is to reside, spend time or otherwise have contact. They replace the old residence and contact orders
Emergency Applications
There may be occasions which require an application to the Court of Protection to get an urgent or emergency court order, for example when a person’s life or welfare is at risk and a decision has to be made without delay.
Special Guardianship
Special Guardianship gives the holder parental responsibility, which he or she is entitled to exercise to the exclusion of any other person with parental responsibility
Divorce
There is only one ground on which a petition for divorce may be presented to the court by either party to the marriage, that is that the marriage has broken down irretrievably.
Financial Issues
The court takes various matters into account with regards to financial arrangements between spouses or civil partners.
Judicial separation
The court procedure in judicial separations is almost identical to a divorce.
Separation Agreement
Both parties to a marriage or civil partnership can sign a written agreement about financial matters arising out of their separation without involving the court.
Pre-nuptial Agreement
Pre-nuptial and pre-civil partnership agreements are contracts entered into by yourself and your partner prior to getting married
Cohabiting Partners
Cohabiting couples are couples who live together without marrying or entering into a civil partnership.
Civil Partnerships
A civil partnership is a legally recognised relationship between two people of the same sex.
